President Chakwera meets Malawians resident in Zimbabwe

Visiting Malawian President, Dr Lazarus Chakwera has urged Malawian nationals resident in Zimbabwe to abide by their host country’s laws.

Speaking to journalists after meeting with Malawians at the Embassy of Malawi offices in Harare this Thursday morning, President Chakwera said: “the Malawian parliament passed legislation which allows Malawian nationals who had acquired citizenship in other countries to retain their Malawian citizenship in limited instances.”

President Chakwera has also paid tribute to Zimbabwe for allowing passage to thousands of Malawians coming from South Africa during the COVID –19 pandemic.

Speaking at a dinner hosted by the First Family, President Chakwera said Zimbabwe and Malawi need to broaden economic ties.
