PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa says the Great Zimbabwe Development Project is in sync with government’s thrust to ensure growth and increased contribution of the tourism sector in the country.
He was speaking during the launch of the project in Masvingo this Thursday.
The €3 million Great Zimbabwe Development Project, which is a partnership between the French and Zimbabwe Governments, will entail four phases, which include improving infrastructure at the site, conservation and documentation of the site, promotion of tourism and incorporating local communities to benefit from the World Heritage Site.
Noting that the Great Zimbabwe monuments are not just architectural works but a revered national shrine, Cde Mnangagwa also said the project will benefit local communities through tourism and cultural preservation.
