Residents of Dombotombo suburb in Marondera are appealing to the Marondera municipality to fix the drainage system in the area as the current rains are damaging their properties.
The houses in the residential area are being damaged by the overflowing water due to poor drainage systems.
Those in the worst affected parts of the suburb said the problem has been ongoing for more than three years.
“We are appealing to the local authority to come and fix this drainage system which has given us headaches for the past three years, we have been given countless promises but nothing has materialized,” said Margaret Machokoto a resident.
“There are pipes which are at the council store room which were meant for this area but those responsible have not come to fix the problem.”
Marondera Mayor, Councilor Simbarashe Nyahuye acknowledged the problem, saying they are working on a long time solution.
The poor drainage system in Marondera has been a cause for concern for residents and other stakeholders during rainy seasons.
