POLAD unpacks constitutional amendment bill

By ZBC Reporter
Members of the Political Actors Dialogue are meeting in Bulawayo to unpack the recently gazetted constitutional amendment bill as government continues to demonstrate its commitment to ensuring inclusivity in governance issues.
The amendments contained in the recently gazetted constitutional amendment bill seeking to enhance professionalism in how the government conducts business by opening up opportunities for inclusion of more technical experts in its structures.
Unpacking the bill for political parties under the Political Actors Dialogue, permanent secretary in the ministry of justice, legal and parliamentary affairs, Ms Virginia Mabhiza explained how the different clauses in the bill will enhance the manner in which government conducts its business.
While a lot has been said about the conduct of civil servants, Ms Mabhiza explained that the new clause to recognise members of the public service will ensure the adoption of the right attitude while the general public will now have a platform to raise complaints against public office bearers.
POLAD co-convenor Justice Selo Nare weighed in saying the platform is important in ensuring that the government includes every willing political actor in governance matters.
Other issues being deliberated on at the meeting include the setting up of an information department under POLAD for publicity and counter discord perpetrated by parties outside the dialogue.
