Government is impressed by the progress being made in the upgrading of Parirenyatwa Isolation section, amid calls for the urgent release of more funds for the speedy completion of the facility.
The Deputy Chairperson of the COVID-19 Inter-Ministerial Taskforce, Cde Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri this Monday toured Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in the company of Health and Child Care Minister, Dr Obediah Moyo and other government officials to assess progress on the construction of an Isolation Centre at the country’s biggest health institution.
Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri, who is also the Minister of Defence and Water Veterans Affairs, was impressed by the progress made so far.
“Following the setting aside of funds by the cabinet to start the construction of Isolation Centre which will hold over 400 patients, about 40 percent have been achieved and we still have a long way to go. So we will present this the COVID-19 briefing and cabinet so that 25 million dollars balance for this project is released as a matter of urgency.”
Minister Muchinguri-Kashiri also implored the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Cde July Moyo to reinforce the labour force to speed up the upgrading process.
The Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr Obediah Moyo expressed satisfaction over the country’s COVID-19 infection control systems.
“I am thrilled by this negative pressure unit in and out which also disinfects the whole system in and out.”
A visit by ZBC News to the health institution showed that some wards have been dismantled and reconstruction of the interior section of the Covid-19 Isolation wards is well on course.
