The business community has been challenged to take advantage of the public private partnership initiative by tapping into the vast opportunities that exist in the Midlands province for the development of the country.
Some top business executives operating in the Midlands province were honoured for their business acumen at the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) provincial awards ceremony held in Gweru this Monday.
The biggest winners include Mr Lamulani Sithole of Lamcast Engineering who scooped the Business Man of the Year Award, Mrs Ketsina Shoshore who won the Business Woman of the Year Award, while Mimosa Mining Company won the Employer of the Year Award.
Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Senator Larry Mavhima urged the business community to take advantage of the Second Republic’s open for business mantra and tap into the vast opportunities that exist in the province.
Our aim is to accelerate the growth of our province thus increasing our provincial GDP to be amongst the highest in the country. The great dyke corridor remains under exploited thus presenting opportunities in mining, agriculture, telecommunications among other sectors. The government through vision 2030 and the NDS1, recognises the private sector as an engine for development, an example is the Kudzayi Bus Terminus, he said.
The ZNCC provincial awards come on the backdrop of the organisation’s annual congress which saw businessman Dr Tinashe Manzungu being re-elected as the president of the association.
