The government has announced that unvaccinated civil servants should not report for duty.
This comes as the nation’s biggest employer continues to tighten measures to curb the spread of the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic, which has infected 126 399 people in the country as at 13 September 2021.
More than 4 000 people have succumbed to the disease, while 2 856 955 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
In its weekly post-cabinet briefing, the government further revised the conditions for churches to operate, advising the nation that only vaccinated members should attend services and not exceed 50 percent of holding capacity.
Although there was a decrease in the number of people in need of hospitalisation due to COVID-19 during the week under review, government noted with concern the significantly low numbers of people getting inoculated in Mashonaland Central and Chitungwiza.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe today received one million Sinovac vaccines, bringing the total number of vaccines from purchases and donations is to 11.8 million.
