Non-compliant national sports associations to face the music

The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has warned national sports associations who are not complying with the statutes of the country’s supreme sports body.
SRC is set to take drastic action against 12 non-compliant National Sports Associations (NSAs) in a move aimed at bringing sanity to the sports fraternity.
The move has been necessitated by the total non-compliance of the NSAs despite numerous calls by the country’s supreme sports body for them to regularise their operations.
Speaking to ZBC News in Harare this Wednesday, SRC Director-General Prince Mupazviriho said they are determined to bring order in the sport and recreation sector.
“We have since communicated to all NSAs on compliance issues but we have discovered that others do not want to follow what’s in line with the Sports Commission Act. However, those founding wanting or who haven’t communicated their position will face the music. We want to make sure that we bring order and sanity in the sport and recreation sector,” said Mupazviriho.
Out of the 63 registered National Sports Associations in the country, only 3 associations the Zimbabwe Aquatic Union, Bowls Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe Motor Sports Federation complied fully, with 48 having partially complied, while 12 are still to comply.
