The Nkayi community where heavy rains left a trail of destruction in the Jabulani area last month, has received a helping hand after the Brethren in Christ Church handed over a consignment of goods this Monday.
The storm, which hit the area on the 20th, destroyed homes and roads.
As a gesture of goodwill, the Brethren in Christ Church members donated clothing and other materials to support the affected families.
The consignment was handed over by the church leader Reverend Ndabezinhle Nyathi.
“We have come together as a church to support Nkayi victims of the floods and this is not the end. We will continue to do so until they are all catered for,” he said.
Nkayi North legislator, Hon Sithembiso Nyoni received the goods on behalf of the victims.
Said Hon Nyoni, “The situation in Nkayi is so desperate and we are so grateful for what you have done. I also want to appeal for more support from other organisations and people.”
The community is yet to recover from the harrowing experience with the rehabilitation of infrastructure such as roads and bridges a priority.
