Nine-year jail term for three Bindura gold dealers

THREE Bindura men who were last month convicted of fraud in a botched gold deal will spend nine years in prison.
Bindura Magistrate, Ruramai Chitumbura slapped the trio of Ganizani Makiyi aged 41, Laulani Simango (30) and David Banda (28) with a nine-year prison sentence for duping clients of more than 14 thousand United States dollars in the botched deal.
One year has been suspended on condition of good behaviour while three more will be set aside if the accused pay back the money by the 3rd of next month.
Facts are that on three separate occasions the trio presented gold to buyers which they would exchange with a fake product to unsuspecting clients.
The convicts were eventually identified through the Closed Circuit Television in one of the victims’ office which captured the convicts exchanging the gold with the fake product.
They were later apprehended by a mob in Shamva while attempting to trade the fake product.
