Ngezi Platinum bolster squad

AMBITIOUS Premier league side Ngezi Platinum Stars has bolstered its squad after unveiling five players at a ceremony held this Monday in Mhondoro Ngezi.

After missing out on the Chibuku Super Cup on penalties, Ngezi has added five players as they target to win the league and collect silverware this season.

The Mhondoro-based club has signed strikers Delic Murimba from Triangle United as well as promoting Takunda Benhura from their development side after scoring six goals in the Northern Region Division One this season.

Attacking midfielder Last Jesi who was with Al Hilal, has finally found a home after struggling to get a clearance from the Sudanese club.

The club has also strengthened its defence after snapping Carlos Mavhurume from Caps United and Tapiwa Sibanda from Cranborne Bullets.

Speaking to ZBC News Ngezi Platinum Stars CEO Nyasha Kadenge hinted that the club is now going for the league title.

“Ater missing out on Chibuku, we are now going for the league no doubt and we hope these signings will spur us to get the big one because we already had a good squad and we are just bolstering,” he said.

Club president Stanley Segula also clarified on the technical team, after Head Coach Rodwell Dhlakama went on a leave of absence a few days before the resumption of the league, with his assistant Takesure Chiragwi taking over on an interim basis.

“We are a professional club and we do things in a certain way. Yes,we are expected to do things professionally and to that end we will leave no stone unturned but very soon we will announce the news,” he said.

Ngezi will resume their quest for the league when they take on Caps United this weekend at the National Sports Stadium.

Elsewhere, ambitious Bulawayo Chiefs showed an early statement of intent after beating defending Premier Soccer League champions FC Platinum two-nil this Sunday.

Chiefs fielded five former FC Platinum players including Perfect Chikwende, Kelvin Madzongwe, Ian Nekati as well as the Moyo twins, Kelvin and Elvis.

Bulawayo Chiefs went on a recruitment drive, starting with a Portuguese Coach and adding five players and the latest result will go a long way in pleasing the club’s administration.
