Zanu PF Youths and a local corporate governance expert have expressed confidence that President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s recent ministerial appointments will bring in the much-needed expertise to boost crop production and power generation in the country.

President Mnangagwa appointed a technocrat, Dr Anxious Masuka as Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Resettlement and Honourable Soda Zhemu as Minister of Energy and Power Development.

The youths have rallied behind President Mnangagwa`s choice of the two new ministers.

“We expect the new Agriculture Minister to carry on from where the late Cde Perrance Shiri left toward prioritising youths in land redistribution, we are confident that Dr Masuka is a patriotic man who will deliver on his new mandate. On the new Energy Minister Cde Zhemu, we are also confident that the president is right to give a young and energetic man the task to propel power generation, from his background we are confident he will deliver given adequate support.”

A corporate governance strategist, Maxmore Njanji says President Mnangagwa`s decision to appoint ministers with a history in agriculture and corporate governance is highly commendable.

“We are grateful and excited by the move taken by the President, the technocrats in Dr Anxious Masuka and Soda Zhemu is the way to go, the two if you trace their history, are tried and tested and have good corporate governance history which can bring impetus towards delivering the intended targets ahead of 2030.”

The president made the two cabinet appointments this week where Dr Masuka replaced the late former minister, Retired Air Chief Marshal Perrance Shiri while Honourable Zhemu takes over from Advocate Fortune Chasi who was relieved of his ministerial duties.
