Mutasa murder suspects arrested

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of two 7-year old minors at Sambaza Village in Nyanga last Tuesday.

The nation is still in shock following the suspected ritual murder of Melissa and Delaney Benza and police have since made headway in bringing the culprits to book after two suspects – Solomon Munyama aged 48 and 22-year-old Passmore Kumbirai Sambaza – were arrested in connection with the case.

“We have arrested two suspects who are assisting us with investigations and we are yet to confirm it was a ritual murder,” Police Spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said.

Melissa and Delaney Benza’s bodies were found in an unused toilet at an abandoned homestead in Kanganya village on Wednesday with identical deep cuts on the left side of their necks.

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Nyathi has also confirmed the arrest of suspected online fraudsters, who hogged the limelight two weeks ago for duping their victims through identity theft.

“We call upon all those who were duped to come and report their cases tomorrow as we now have suspects in custody.”

Mobile money scams have become rampant in recent times hence the urgent need for the finalisation of the Cyber Security Act.
