The trio of MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzai Mahere, Job Sikhala and political activist Hopewell Chin’ono will remain in custody following postponement of the ruling on whether they should be placed on remand or not.
Job Sikhala, Fadzai Mahere and Hopewell Chin’ono had separate court appearances in Harare this Tuesday facing allegations of publishing falsehoods.
Sikhala will remain in custody pending his bail application after Harare magistrate, Ngoni Nduna dismissed his application opposing placement on remand.
Mahere will also spend more days behind bars after Magistrate Trynos Utahwashe postponed the ruling to Friday.
Magistrate Utahwashe however ordered the state to investigate complaints that Mahere has against the police.
Meanwhile, Chin’ono who is facing a similar charge will remain in custody pending ruling set for this Wednesday.
The trio was opposing placement on remand, arguing the charge against them is unconstitutional.
The charge emanates from their use of their Twitter handles last week to circulate claims that a police officer had hit a child to death with a baton stick.
