PREPARATIONS for the 15th edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo set for next month are at an advanced stage, with more than 100 exhibitors having confirmed their participation through bookings.

The Expo, which is making a comeback after a two-year absence owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, will run from the 13 to 15 October at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair’s Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo.

With a big number of buyers having already confirmed their attendance, the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) is now targeting over 100 International buyers at the country’s premier tourism Expo.

“We are at an advanced stage in terms of our preparations. We are targeting over 100 international buyers from our source markets as well as new markets like Korea that has already confirmed its participation as well as other new markets. In terms of our exhibitions, we have around 230 and we want to reach 250 exhibitors mainly local,” said Godfrey Koti, ZTA spokesperson.

Sports tourism is a new phenomenon that has gripped the world and Zimbabwe has chosen not to be left behind.

‘We are bringing in a renowned athletics coach, who has travelled the world and very much knowledge not only in sport, but in tourism in Great Britain sprint coach Stan Madhiri, who is coming to speak on sports business as Zimbabwe is constantly hosting international tournaments,” said Koti.

The Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo is the country’s major tourism marketing initiative and attracts media, regional and international buyers as well as travel agents, among other travel-related corporates.
