A 21-year-old man from Burma Valley in Manicaland province is facing allegations of contravening the Parks and Wildlife Act for allegedly taming a monkey.
Samuel Samudzimu from Nehwangura village who has been issued with a warrant of arrest after failing to present himself in court this Tuesday allegedly domesticated a monkey for reasons which are not yet clear.
According to the State papers, sometime last month, Samudzimu went to Burma Estate where he caught one velvet monkey from the bush and kept it at his homestead.
Samudzimu was arrested after fellow villagers alerted the police.
Meanwhile, two have men appeared in the court after they were found in possession of a tortoise without a permit.
Forward Zimunya aged 44 and Trymore Mazai (39) were remanded in custody for contravening the Parks and Wildlife Act.
They two ran out of luck after a person they had offered transport saw the tortoise in their car and reported the matter to the police.
