A 41-year old Gweru mine proprietor has been arrested after he allegedly shot two of his workers in a wage-related dispute.
The Shamrock Mine owner who is believed to have shot and injured two of his employees aged 31 and 39, was arrested this Sunday in Gweru.
Police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident saying investigations are underway.
Emerging details are that the accused clashed with his workers after they rejected his proposal of Zimbabwe dollar salary payments, demanding to be paid in United States dollars.
Further allegations are that the employer listed the names of the front-runners of the protest and vowed to terminate their contracts.
Two of the complainants who were part of the listed employees were advised of the development which prompted a scuffle with the accused.
The accused withdrew a 9mm pistol and shot the two who were immediately taken to Midlands private hospital for treatment.
