GOVERNMENT says work to develop Melfort Small City is now at an advanced stage and all home seekers who were illegally allocated residential stands by land barons will be given the first right of refusal once the plan is ready for implementation.

The Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities, Honourable Daniel Garwe says Melfort Smart City and development of others countrywide is now a reality.

Melfort smart city development is progressing well. It is government’s policy to ensure the implementation of smart cities comes into fruition. Government has taken the plight of those who were duped by land barons at Melfort. They are innocent people and will be given the first right of refusal when the stands are ready for sale,” he said.

Another smart city which is expected to change the face of Mashonaland West will be constructed in Chirundu, while others Figtree in Matabeleland South and Gilstone in Mashonaland East are on the cards as government targets to decongest the towns and cities in line with Vision 2030.
