MASH WEST: Mzari Clinic handed over for Covid-19

THE Chinhoyi municipality has handed over its state of the art Mzari clinic to the Ministry of Health and Child Care for use as a COVID-19 isolation centre.
The clinic, located in the Mzari low density suburb is fairly new and is probably the best of the council run health centres.
The facility has been handed over to the ministry, and will be an isolation centre for suspected Covid19 cases as well as a treatment centre for patients suspected to have the virus.
Minister of State for Mashonaland West, Mary Mliswa who officiated at the handover ceremony applauded the move but emphasized staying home as the best way of curbing the spread of the virus.
She also urged guardians to educate children on the importance of hygiene.
“We just want to appreciate what has been done for the people of Chinhoyi. Everything has been prepared so the preparedness of Makonde district is now in place. We will keep reiterating that it is important for people to adhere to the lockdown requirements, Keep indoors,” she said.
Maxwell Kaitano, the Chinhoyi Town Clerk, said the Ministry of Health and Child Care assessed the facility first and was satisfied it met minimum requirements.
“After the ministry assessed the clinic they were satisfied that it meets minimum requirements to become and isolation centre,” he said.
Makonde District Medical Officer, Dr Paradzai Mudzengerere expressed the hope that the facility will be fully equipped as a matter of urgency.
“We hope as time goes by we will fully equip it so that we will be able to put patients in the ICU,” he highlighted.
According to Minister Mliswa , every district in Mashonaland West now has a Covid-19 isolation centre.
