PREPARATIONS for the demarcation of electoral boundaries ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections are on course, with the actual mapping of boundaries expected to commence soon, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has said.

“The Commission would like to inform the nation that all is progressing well with the delimitation exercise which started on the first of June. We have been training personnel and now we have done all the technical training soon we will be going on the ground to do the actual mapping of the boundaries,” said Commissioner Jasper Mangwana, ZEC’s spokesperson.

Commissioner Mangwana also clarified that the electoral body has not yet released any official report on delimitation findings.

“The public should not be alarmed as there is no report that has been published yet. The process is still ongoing and the exercise will end on the 31st of December as previously announced. The actual boundaries to be used in the next election will be in that report,” he said.

The delimitation exercise is a constitutional requirement carried out after every 10 years to determine electoral boundaries.
