Zimbabwe’s manufacturing sector is targeting survival policies through a national survey aimed at assessing the impact of Covid-19 and economic policies on production.

The Manufacturing Sector Survey which will be held from next month also seeks to provide data on challenges affecting the sector, outlook and recommendations.

Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries president, Mr Henry Ruzvidzo says results of the survey will be released by the end of this year.

“The survey will be conducted as we seek to provide relevant data regarding what we can do to restore confidence.”

The survey will also focus on exports, growth, capacity utilisation, employment trends and access to local and global markets.

Zimbabwe’s manufacturing industry is also shifting focus towards import substitution strategies that enable the country to save hard currency.
