A 39-year-old man has appeared in court after allegedly raping and impregnating his 17-year-old niece.

The 39-year-old man who is facing three counts of rape for allegedly forcing himself on his brother’s daughter has been remanded in custody.

It is alleged that in December last year the accused raped the girl three times on different occasions.

The court heard that he threatened the girl with death if she reported the matter.

The issue came to light when the accused’s wife saw text messages from her husband in the girl’s phone pleading with her to terminate the pregnancy.

The girl then narrated her ordeal to her aunts before a police report was made.

Meanwhile, a police officer, Hillary Zano aged 36 who allegedly sodomised an 18 year old man three times at gun point also appeared in court facing charges of aggravated indecent assault.

He was remanded in custody and advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

Still at the courts, a 17 year old boy from Mt Hampden appeared in court charged with rape after he allegedly raped a nine year old girl.

The court heard that the boy took the girl to a bushy area and raped her before threatening her.

However, the girl told her mother and the matter was reported to the police leading to the boy’s arrest.

He was remanded out of custody and released into his mother’s custody.
