CITIZENS Coalition for Change (CCC) Executive Members, Joana Mamombe and Cecilia Chimbiri were left with egg on the face after their court application seeking to influence media coverage of their case was dismissed.
This Friday’s court proceedings in the case in which Mamombe and Chimbiri are accused of publishing falsehoods started with the defence trying to divert the attention of the court by playing victim to what they described as unfair reportage by ZBC News and The Herald.
In his application, Alec Muchadehama representing Mamombe and Chimbiri accused ZBC News and The Herald of denigrating them and painting them in bad light.
However, their application was thrown out by Chief Magistrate Faith Mushure.
This was after the State represented by Michael Reza argued that the application was a non-event as it was not clear what the accused wanted the court to do.
Their trial continues next week.
