CITIZENS Coalition for Change members, Joana Mamombe and Cecilia Chimbiri‘s alleged abduction case is falling apart amid new revelations that the pair was never arrested as they earlier claimed.
In a twist of events, in the case in which the CCC pair claim to have been abducted, a police officer who testified this Monday told the court that the duo was never arrested on the day in question.
Police Officer, Venencia Muchenje said she was deployed at the roadblock in question and her team never made any arrests adding that she never saw the co-accused on that particular day.
Meanwhile, the duo had their application to block documentary evidence intended to be produced by the State thrown out by Chief Magistrate Mrs Faith Mushure this Monday.
Mamombe and Chimbiri challenged the production of documentary evidence by the State in the case they are accused of falsely claiming to have been abducted.
In her ruling, the magistrate noted that the application had no legal basis.
The State led by Mr Michael Reza submitted the documentary evidence which show the co-accused’s use of mobile data and call records during the time they claimed they were abducted by state agents.
