Main independence celebrations set for Bulawayo

THIS year’s main independence celebrations which will mark the country’s 40th anniversary are set for Bulawayo as part of the New Dispensation’s thrust on devolution.
Briefing members of the media after 336th ordinary session of the Politburo meeting, Zanu PF Acting Secretary for Information and Publicity, Patrick Chinamasa who was standing in for Simon Khaya Moyo said the move was aimed at following up on the decision to have the celebrations venue rotating.
“Press statement on the 336th ordinary session of the politburo, which met on Wednesday marking its inaugural meeting for the year 2020,” the acting secretary said.
“In the same vein, Mashonaland Central has been selected as the venue for the 19th National People’s Conference which will be held in December. We are going to have our 40th independence anniversary celebration in Bulawayo, and this is part of the New Dispensation’s thrust on devolution as we follow through with our aim of rotating the celebration venues which were in the past only held in Harare.”
Meanwhile, Mashonaland Central is to host this year’s 19th Annual National People’s Conference.
