Suspected notorious armed robber and murderer, Aaron Franscisco Machona appeared in court this Monday facing several counts of armed robbery, murder, money laundering and possession of firearms.
Machona, who allegedly shot a 30-year-old Waterfalls woman four times, killing her instantly during a robbery last month, made his maiden appearance in court this Monday facing eight counts of various charges that include murder, armed robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm and money laundering.
It is alleged that between December last year and this month, Machona committed a series of armed robberies where he used a pistol to instill fear in his victims before getting away with cash and valuables.
The court heard that in March this year, the accused broke into a Waterfalls home where he shot dead a 30-year-old woman before getting away with cash.
Machona is also being charged with money laundering after he allegedly used proceeds of crime to purchase a residential stand and a car.
The court heard that the accused was found in possession of a pistol when he was arrested last week.
The estimated value of cash and property he got away with is US$70 000.
He is expected back in court this Tuesday.
Meanwhile, 39-year old Jabulani Kuwana from Bulawayo appeared in court on charges of contravening the Parks and Wildlife Act after her was founded in possession of four pieces of raw ivory.
It is alleged that Kuwana intended to sell the ivory, which he had illegally acquired. He was remanded in custody and was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
In another case, Elton Chingwangwana and his lover, Spiwe Kativhu also appeared in court on three charges of unlawful entry.
The couple allegedly broke into houses and stole property that include gas tanks and electrical gadgets.
They were nabbed after they were allegedly found selling some of the stolen property.
They are expected back in court this Tuesday for bail application.
