Machete-wielding gang appears in court

THREE members of a suspected machete wielding gang have been charged with the murder of Bulawayo man after breaking into his house in Lobengula early this month.

In the State’s case, 22-year-old Brian Moyo, Lucky Sibanda (26) and Kelvin Dube (30) alongside two other suspects who are still at large, broke into Langelihle Dube’s house in Lobengula West on the 8th of this month armed with knives, iron bars and stones.

Dube who is now deceased is said to have wrestled the accused persons, after his wife had been pushed into the bedroom.

The accused allegedly ransacked the house and got away with US$25 and two cell phones.

The court heard that after noticing that the gang had left, the deceased’s wife found her husband lying on the kitchen floor, bleeding on the thigh and head.

One of the suspects Brian Moyo was arrested on the 24th of this month after police received tip off leading to the arrest of the other two suspects and recovery of the stolen cell phones.

The trio has been remanded in custody to the 11th of next month.
