Story by Peter Chivhima

PAKISTAN has pledged continued support to Zimbabwe in the fight against all forms of terrorism.

Presenting a lecture at the Zimbabwe National Defence University (ZNDU) in Harare this Monday, Pakistan’s top envoy to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Murad Baseer said his country is ready to assist Zimbabwe to train its military personnel in the fight against all forms of terrorism.

‘‘As Pakistan, we are ready to assist Zimbabwe in training its military personnel to fight against all forms of terrorism. Our countries share strong cordial relations which date back to the liberation struggle.’’

Ambassador Baseer also commended the cordial relations between his country and Africa, calling for the continent to unite against the threat of terrorism.

‘‘For African nations to be able to fight terrorism they must work together.’’

Zimbabwe and Pakistan enjoy cordial relations traced back to the liberation struggle when Pakistan trained military personnel from Africa.

Besides political and cultural ties Zimbabwe and Pakistan have participated in joint defence exercises.
