India thrash Chevrons

Story by Raynald Ngwarati

THE Zimbabwe national cricket team, the Chevrons failed to hold on to form this Sunday as they lost to India by 100 runs.

Zimbabwe had its victory joy cut short as the Chevrons were outmatched by India in the second T20 International played at Harare Sports Club.

Bowling errors cost the Chevrons the match with 20 overs.

Sharma who failed to trouble the scorers on Saturday came back stronger in the second match scoring a ton of just 47 balls to announce his arrival onto the international cricket scene.

Ruturaj Gaikwad was also instrumental in India’s innings as he scored 77 runs to guide India to the highest T20 International innings at Harare Sports Club.

The score was probably an uphill task for the Chevrons, who got off to the worst possible start losing Innocent Kaia with just 4 runs on the board.

Wickets began falling in cluster with only Wesley Madhevere who scored 43 runs and Luke Jongwe and Brian Bennett taking the attack to the Indian bowlers.

Under pressure, the trio failed to convert their starts into big scores resulting in Zimbabwe slumping to their worst T20 defeat in Harare since 2018 when they lost out to Australia by a similar score of 100 runs.
