THE team captains and coaches of the country’s two biggest clubs, Highlanders and Dynamos have received their vehicles which are part of the sponsorship deal unveiled by Sakunda Holdings on Tuesday.
The oil giant unveiled a US$5 million sponsorship for the two clubs this Tuesday and went further to pledge cars for the team captains and coaches.
And true to their word, Sakunda Holdings duly delivered with Highlanders Coach Mandla Mpofu and his Dynamos counterpart, Tonderayi Ndiraya driving away in Ford Everest vehicles.
“We have to win now there is no other way we have been given all the support we want,” said Mandla Mpofu, Highlanders technical manager.
“This is a massive boost and honour for a coach and we have to repay this by winning trophies,” said Tonderai Ndiraya, Dynamos coach.
The two captains Patson Jaure and Ariel Sibanda are now driving Ford Ranger twin cabs.
“This is massive for team to do better and everyone will aspire to be the leader one day,” said Jaure.
“Imagine what this means for not just the current players but the next one who aspires to be Bosso captain one day they will work extra hard,” said Sibanda.
The sponsors also had a word of advice to the clubs.
“These are club vehicles given to the office of coach and captain we do not expect to see the club chairman or secretary driving the vehicles. We are going to service and maintain the vehicles for the duration of the contract,” said Kuda Tagwirei, CEO and founder of Sakunda Holdings.
The development comes after Sakunda Holdings unveiled a US$5.3 million three year sponsorship deal for Dynamos and Highlanders at a colourful event in Harare this Tuesday.
