Local film selected for Durban International Film Festival

A Zimbabwean movie, ‘Shaina’ which premiered on ZBC TV last year, has been selected to be part of the line up at the Durban International Film Festival which gets underway on the 22nd of this month.

Shaina, a movie meant to empower adolescent girls and young women in Sub-Saharan Africa, has been selected for the prestigious Durban international film festival in a development which film director Beautie Masvaure believes will showcase Zimbabwean talent to the world.

“We are thrilled. l was selected as a first-time feature film director. It means a lot to be selected. It’s a big platform to showcase Zimbabwean talent,” she said.

The event which will be held virtually, will run under the theme “Framing the future: Cinema Unleashed.

Shaina which has an all-female production team has already been showcased at more than 18 film festivals across the globe.
