Local bank loses over US$3 million to employees

FOUR employees from a local bank who allegedly swindled their employer of more than ZWL$3 million have appeared in court facing charges of fraud.
39 year old Moses Machesu, Tafadzwa Machesu aged 37, Kuzivakwashe Mudzingwa who is 22 and Gillian Nyengere aged 38 appeared before Harare Magistrate Judith Taruvinga charged with fraud.
Allegations are that the four had credentials that enabled them to access the Bank system called BR.Net for banking transactions.
The court heard that the financial institution’s Chief Finance Officer noted some anomalies on some clients’ accounts which raised suspicion.
An investigation revealed that the quartet connived to steal from the bank and they were subsequently arrested.
The bank suffered a prejudice of more than three million Zimbabwe dollars.
