Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Tanzania, Lieutenant General (Rtd) Anselem Sanyatwe has tied the knot with his wife, Honourable Chido Sanyatwe at a colourful wedding ceremony held at Regina Coeli in Nyanga North.

Multitudes gathered at Regina Coeli to witness the wedding which was solemnised by a Roman Catholic Church Priest.

“We are happy to be united in the church. We had a wedding presided by magistrate before, but we have thought of doing our wedding in the Church. We urge our children and many people to follow such societal values,” the bride, Honourable Chido Sanyatwe said.

“God gave us children and we had a court wedding and today we had a church wedding. This is something that is not affected by age and even at 100 years you can still wed,” said the groom.

Family members and friends were excited that their role models continue to be exemplary.

The Manicaland political leadership was equally excited, while the Vice President, General (Retired) Dr Constantino Chiwenga delivered President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s congratulatory message.

“We know that the two who have brought us here have high posts in government and today they have agreed to conduct a wedding ceremony in a manner that God wants. This is critical in forming strong family ties that build clans, villages, society and the country. I want to thank you for inviting me representing the president of the country Dr Mnangagwa. The President is saying to you, congratulations. The President is also saying to the Nyanga North constituency, congratulations,” he said.

The Vice President also encouraged people to register to vote, stating that government has made acquisition of national identity documents easy.

And of course, a wedding ceremony is not complete without presentation of gifts and indeed, the Vice President led from the front by handing over a token of appreciation from the President, before handing over his own.
