THE President and First Secretary of ZANU PF, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, has urged youths to leverage on the country’s endowments so as to create employment and boost the economy.

He was speaking at the official opening ceremony of the ZANU PF Youth League Conference in Harare this Thursday.

“The days for you to line up and seek for jobs are fading. You must leverage on our country’s endowments to create decent job opportunities towards the growth of local economies and rural industries in our provinces, districts, wards and villages.

“I thus expect to see the emergence of a crop of young versatile entrepreneurs who will help leapfrog our economic growth and emerge as the country’s millionaires,” he said.

He also reiterated the need for honesty in the execution of the developmental mandate, as it is one of the foundational values of the party.

“As you do so, always remember the importance of hard, honest work. Our party ZANU PF will never tolerate corruption,” he added.

To the African youth, the President noted the need for strong partnerships for the realisation of Agenda 2063.

“I urge you, as the youth from our continent, to strengthen collaboration and partnerships towards youth empowerment as well as the modernisation, industrialisation and prosperity of our respective countries. You must never take lightly your duties and responsibilities for the realisation of the African Union Agenda 2063, and the ‘Africa We Want’,” noted the President.

The 7th National Youth Conference roared into life this Wednesday, under the theme, ‘Vision 2030: Revitalise, Empower, Involve the Youth’.

The conference will also see the election of heads of departments and their deputies.
