Lady Chevrons progress to the semis

THE Zimbabwe women national cricket team, the Lady Chevrons are through to the semi-finals of the ongoing T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers, after thumping Rwanda by 53 runs at the Gaborone Oval in Botswana.
The Mary-Anne Musonda captained side made it five wins out of five group matches as they booked a date with Uganda in Friday’s semi-final.
Rwanda won the toss and decided to bowl and the Lady Chevrons made the most of the good batting conditions as they posted a competitive 142 for four (142/4) after 20 overs.
Captain Musonda coming back from injury led from the front with a quick fire 43 and she was ably supported by Chiedza Dururu and Ashley Ndiraya, who all got into their 20s.
In reply, Zimbabwe skittled the East Africans for 90 for nine (90/9) in their allotted 20 overs to bag the victory.
Loreen Tshuma bagged four wickets for 11 runs and was duly named player of the match.
Nomvelo Sibanda chipped in with two wickets while Lorraine Phiri also bagged a wicket.
Zimbabwe is just two wins away from making it to the global qualifiers.
