Lady Cheetahs geared up for the Africa Cup 7s tournament

THE Zimbabwe Women Sevens Rugby team, the Lady Cheetahs are in Maseru, Lesotho for the Africa Cup Sevens tournament which takes centre stage this weekend.

The Lady Cheetahs delegation which left the country for Lesotho this Thursday is made up of 12 players led by head coach, Dereck Chiwara and skipper Margaret Mangwiro.

Zimbabwe joins hosts Lesotho, Botswana, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia and Eswatini for the tournament pencilled for Saturday and Sunday.

The regional sevens tournament is also the qualifier for the Rugby World Cup to be hosted by South Africa in September.

Elsewhere, the Zimbabwe Under- 19 cricket team takes on Ireland in the plate semi–finals of the Junior World Cup at the Queen Park Oval in Trinidad this Saturday.

Zimbabwe made it to the plate semi-finals after thumping Scotland by 108 runs this Wednesday.

On the other hand, hosts West Indies have a date with the United Arab Emirates as they battle for a place in the final against either Zimbabwe or Ireland.
