Political analysts have condemned the political violence that occurred in Kwekwe recently attributing it to reckless statements by the opposition political leadership.
Similarly, government arms have been calling on political parties to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner ahead of the March 26 by-elections.
However, the Nelson Chamisa-led CCC has been rapped for shockingly urging its supporters to engage in violence, resulting in the death of one person in Kwekwe last week.
“Violence is part of the opposition political party’s DNA and what happened in Kwekwe is exactly their identity,” political analyst & researcher, Gibson Nyikadzino said.
Batsie Mangongo, a political analyst noted: “We always wonder how this is orchestrated. Violence in Kwekwe… almost all hostile embassies at the same time sent out statements which shows the drama was not meant for local audience, but international audience.”
Stakeholders believe the country cannot be held at ransom by an individual whose lack of ideological grounding has left him starring defeat in the forthcoming by-elections, hence the use of violence to have his way.
