KENYA has started a week long mourning period after the death of former President Emilio Stanley Mwai Kibaki on Friday.
The late Mwai Kibaki’s body was received at parliament building in Kenya by President Uhuru Kenyatta this Monday morning alongside other state officials.
The body will lie in state at Parliament Building for three days, with body viewing open to the public between 9am and 5pm on Tuesday and Wednesday.
President Kenyatta and the First Lady, Margaret Kenyatta will lead the nation in paying last respects to the late former President.
The late Kibaki, who was the third President of the Republic of Kenya, died on Friday last week.
His death was announced by President Kenyatta in a televised address from State House in Nairobi.
The national funeral steering committee for the late former president led by Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang’i announced that Kibaki will be buried on the 30th of this month at his Othaya home in Nyeri County.
