Despite the decline in COVID-19 cases and deaths, Zimbabweans have been reminded that the fight against the virus is not yet over.

Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister, Honourable Mary Mliswa told mourners at the funeral wake of provincial hero, Cde Jabulani Nengani that the fight against the virus is not yet over.

“Covid-19 is still with us. Let’s not be complacent. Keep on adhering to set guidelines to contain the spread of the pandemic,” said Hon. Mliswa.

Chairperson the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association Makonde chapter, Cde Ronnie Masango appealed to government to extend the free vehicle import duty facility to former freedom fighters.

The facility is currently being offered to civil servants.

“Consider us for the duty-free car importation facility as extended to civil servants. Also consider us in terms of allocation of urban residential stands,” he said.

Cde Nengani was buried at Chinhoyi Provincial Heroes Acre this Friday.

He was a decorated liberation war cadre who died aged 64, leaving behind a wife, eight children and several grandchildren.
