KANYE West has declared that he is running for president on Twitter, over the weekend, against President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden. This comes just four months before the US presidential election begins on the 3rd of November this year.
West’s first said he would run for president at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards after his acceptance speech for the Video Vanguard Award.
In 2019, he delayed that he would instead run for president in 2024. However, it has been speculated that the musician might not be able to run for president since it is too late.
He has already missed the deadline to file as a presidential candidate in many states. It is required to register with the Federal Election Commission, present a campaign platform along with signatures to get on the voting ballot.
Kanye West, who has been listed as a billionaire on the Forbes list worth $1.3 billion due to his Yeezy Adidas deal which topped sales in 2019, never fails to dream big and go after what he wants. It is almost inspiring to the individual who holds the principle of “go big or go home.”
Kanye West tweeted on Sunday saying, “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future,” before concluding with his presidential campaign announcement. The man has a vision and it has shown throughout his career.
When Kanye West invested money into his fashion line, Yeezy, he was left in debt and even revealed his financial woes on Twitter, followed by an appeal to Mark Zuckerberg to invest $1 billion in business ideas.
No one would have imagined that, years later, he would be a billionaire with the zeal to campaign for President in the US campaign. West has managed to outdo himself because of vision and resilience. He has been quoted saying, “for me giving up is harder than trying,” which rings true to his attitude towards the presidential campaign in which he is late for.
Some might assume that Kanye West’s new image from Hollywood’s edgy rapper to a dedicated father of four and husband with a Sunday Service is a bid to keep up appearances for the Presidential campaign. Therefore, some might not take him seriously enough to vote for him. There is still room for the mogul to campaign in 2024 and 4 more years for him to prove he can be the perfect Presidential candidate against all odds. After all, he has managed to conquer challenges on his way from up and coming rapper in 2004 with a hit, ‘Jesus Walks’ to a billionaire on the Forbes list.
