MOZAMBICAN President, His Excellency, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi is in the country for the one-day extra-ordinary organ Troika summit of heads of states and government to be held in Harare this Tuesday.
President Nyusi arrived early Tuesday morning and was met at the Robert Mugabe International Airport by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Retired Lieutenant General, Dr Sibusiso Moyo, Mines and Mining Development Minister, Honourable Winston Chitando and other senior government officials.
Botswana President Dr Mogkweetsi Masisi has also arrived for the extraordinary SADC Troika and was welcomed at the Robert Mugabe International airport by minister of foreign affairs and international trade Retired Lieutenant General Dr Sibusiso Moyo, Higher and Tertiary Education Minister Professor Amon Murwira and several senior government officials.
He was followed by President Edgar Lungu of Zambia who was met by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Retired Lt. General Dr Sibusiso Moyo and Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Prof Paul Mavima and senior government officials
Also, in the country is Zambia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Joseph Malanji, and the Minister of Home Affairs, Honourable Stephen Kampyongo.
The scheduled meeting is being hosted by His Excellency President, Emmerson Mnangagwa, in his capacity as the chairperson of the SADC organ on Politics, Defense and Security.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade said the main purpose of the summit is to consider the urgent security situation in Mozambique following that country’s formal request to the regional body.
This follows disturbances in some parts of Mozambique where gruesome acts have been committed by Islamist terrorists.
