Former Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) Journalist Tawanda Gudhlanga has succumbed to COVID-19.
This was confirmed by his wife,who said Tawanda passed on today at his Zimre Park home in Harare.
Gudhlanga is famed for hosting a number of Current Affairs and business programmes on ZBC-TV and Radio Station Classic 263.
Speaking via their official Twitter account Classic 263 staff members expressed shock at the passing on of Gudhlanga whose work touched listeners in numerous ways.
Today is a dark day for us at @classic263 – waking up to the passing on of Tawanda Gudhlanga has been really hard. We know he touched us at the studios and all our listeners in different ways. May God give us strength as we face this great loss.
Also speaking via his twitter page,Permanent Secretary n in the Ministry of Information,Publicity and Broadcasting Services Mr Nick Mangwana expressed sadness at the death of the prominent journalist,highlighting that it was a tough time for the media fraternity as experienced journalists continue to pass on.
I hear Tawanda Gudhlanga he has passed away. It’s really sad that we continue to lose experienced Media Practitioners and great personalities. RIP Bro,wrote Mangwana.
He hosted ZBC- TV Current Affairs Programmes, Zimbabwe Today where he got to interview a number of Government officials .
On Spot FM, Gudhlanga also hosted a variety of current affairs programmes such as The Morning Grill and The Daily Dose, and after the station rebranded to Classic 263, Gudhlanga hosted the shows Random Chat and ClassicJamSession.
In 2017, Tawanda Gudhlanga won the NAMA for Outstanding Journalist in Radio.
At the time of his death he was General Manager at YaFM in Zvishavane .
