THE Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has carried out a series of simultaneous missile strikes targeting United States military bases across West Asia, in what Tehran describes as retaliation for airstrikes on several Iranian cities, including the capital, Tehran.
Media reports indicate that Iranian missiles struck US military installations in Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Several projectiles reportedly hit a base hosting US Marines in the Jafir region of Bahrain.
The developments follow airstrikes earlier in the day by the United States and Israel targeting sites in Iran. US President Donald Trump and the Israeli military confirmed the launch of the air operations, with calls for regime change in Iran.
Washington has in recent months intensified pressure on Tehran to agree to a new nuclear agreement. On Friday, President Trump expressed dissatisfaction with Iran’s negotiating position during ongoing talks over its nuclear programme.
The situation remains fluid, with regional tensions escalating amid fears of broader instability across West Asia.
