International Conference of African Cultures kicks off in Harare

By Patience Nyagato

More than 10 countries have converged in Zimbabwe for the third edition of the International Conference of African Cultures which got underway in Harare this Tuesday.

The conference comes in the wake of calls for Africa to own its narrative and value the importance of its human remains and relics looted during the colonial era.

The issue is high on the agenda with Cultural experts from around Africa deliberating on issues around restitution and repatriation of artefacts, human remains and archives from an African point of view.

The conference will give experts an opportunity to tour the National Heroes Acre and some designated cultural sites in Harare.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to officially open the conference this Wednesday.
