THE Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce Manicaland Business awards have been held amid calls for businesses to innovate and promote brand equity to grow and expand operations.

The awards held this Friday in Mutare under the theme, “bolstering resilience and innovativeness for sustainable growth” saw this edition’s winners taking the challenge to do even better and grow their operations.

ZNCC Manicaland Province president, Charlton Chimbira spoke on the winners’ selection criteria while the Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honorable Nokuthula Matsikenyere who was represented by a director in her office, Munyaradzi Rubaya, urged business to take an active role in advancing the vision 2030.

“We looked at business performance through published statistics that prioritised exports and remittances. We also consulted taking note of reporting structures. For example, local authorities, we know where they report to and we analysed their reports.

“His Excellency, President Mnangagwa is committed to priorities economic development as a strategic response to the pressing needs of our people. So, our priority as the second republic is to see a clear growth in the economy of this country.

“Let us be united by our vision to be an empowered and middle-income society where we strive to increase investments, decent jobs and broad-based empowerment,” said Rubaya.

ZBC CEO Adelaide Chikunguru who was guest of honour at the awards ceremony underscored the importance of innovation and maintaining brand equity for business to prosper and expand operations.

“Today more than ever, businesses have to be more resilient to survive the environment. We need to innovate and do things differently to survive the hardships and difficult times we experience as businesses.

” It is during these difficult times that organisations need to maintain brand equity. Globally, we are experiencing a level of disruption that has not been experienced before. During these times organisations that lack innovation will fail while others will advance and even thrive,” said Chikunguru.
