Hwange continues growing its business base

The mining town of Hwange continues to attract new businesses into its backyard, further opening up more opportunities for locals.

The latest to open shop in Hwange is a multinational technology company with offices in 14 African countries.

While businesses continue to grow in Hwange, creating local consumption capacity is what has been described as key by the new investors.

Axis Solutions CEO and founder, Mr Brian Mukudzavhu says, “We should create domestic consumption. That is how any business can grow and fit into our national vision.”

The current environment is also creating new synergies and business models in a town that was founded solely on coal mining.

“New businesses coming here are exactly what our Vision 2030 by government entails. This is good for the growth not only of Hwange but the entire economy,” says Hwange Colliery Company Secretary, Mr Chrispen Ncube.

Business in Hwange has grown significantly allowing new players to tap into the huge mining industry that requires services from other enterprises. The coal and power economies now support other service centres largely controlled by indigenous Zimbabweans.
