ZIMBABWE is set to increase its export receipts as the country eyes to grow its international market share, with local products in demand across the world.

The appetite for Zimbabwean products is huge on the international market and the onus is on the country to fully exploit its comparative advantage.

Apart from being a lucrative export destination for Zimbabwe’s horticulture produce, The UAE also has a huge market for organic honey, beef and goat meat.

Zimbabwe’s High Commissioner to EXPO 2020 DUBAI, Ambassador Mary Mubi emphasised the need for Zimbabwean companies to fully exploit the export market by meeting demand.

“Here is a huge market for our honey. We need to have our standards association work on what the market requires. We need to do our homework to ensure we meet the market requirements. We need to ensure we have a good narrative of our products. We need a good name for our products,” said Ambassador Mubi.

Regarding the agriculture sector, Ambassador Mubi noted that officials from Zimbabwe are pursuing talks with various companies in the UAE.

“Minister Masuka was here and he left a team that speaks to companies interested in investing in the agriculture sector.”

Zimbabwe has set up a revolving fund of US$20 million to capacitate horticulture farmers to meet market demands.
