PATRIOTIC Zimbabweans Party candidate for Dangamvura-Chikanga Constituency in the March 26 by-elections, Hosea Chipanga, has urged the electorate to dump opposition legislators and councillors who have failed to deliver.
Having entered the political race in 2017 after forming his political party, the Kingdom of God on Earth musician-turned-politician left the project last year to join the Patriotic Zimbabweans Party and is vying for the vacant Dangamvura-Chikanga legislative seat.
Chipanga says the poor service delivery by Mutare City Council should be a wake-up call for the electorate ahead of the 26 March by-elections.
“We are preparing for the by-elections following the holding of the nomination court. There are a number of problems in our constituency that include poor road network and unavailability of clean water.
“Our expectations were that the legislators could attend to laws and policies that promote growth and sustainability. The local council was drafting budgets that were not supported by income-generating initiatives. The council only focuses on rentals and rates to fund their operations instead of thinking outside the box.”
He added: “We now have a challenge where people are fond of political parties and not their country. That’s the major challenge we are facing at the moment.”
Chipanga will battle it out with five other candidates including Esau Mupfumi of ZANU PF, Taurai Mudzipurwa of MDC Alliance, Prosper Mutseyami of CCC and Anesu Zaranyika of MA’AT Zimbabwe Party.
