Heroes Day preparations on course: Minister Kazembe

PREPARATIONS for this year’s Heroes Day commemorations are at an advanced stage, with a limited number of people set to gather at the national shrine in line with Covid-19 protocols.
With only a few days left before the country commemorates Heroes Day, all necessary logistics have been put in place to ensure the annual event is held in line with World Health Organisation guidelines in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking after an assessment tour at the national shrine this Friday, Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Honourable Kazembe Kazembe said there will be a limited number of people at the National Heroes Acre, with the rest of the nation following proceedings virtually.
“We were assessing progress in terms of our preparations for the heroes day. Everything is in place although we are not going to have a full gathering due to Covid-19. Provinces will do the same,” said the minister.
Commemorations will also be held at provincial shrines under strict covid-19 regulations, while President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to address the nation on virtual platforms.
