Harare were crowned the Zimbabwe National Senior Swimming champions after a dominant display at an event that was held at the Bulawayo City pools over the weekend.
The swimming tournament that had about 200 swimmers saw five provinces take part namely Harare, Matabelaland Senior National Team 2020, Mashonaland Country Districts, Crocs and Manicaland.

Harare ruled courtesy of a dominant 3 066 points with Matabeleland Senior National Team 2020 coming second with 2 081 points.

Mashonaland Country Districts, Crocs and Manicaland came third to fifth respectively.

Harare women who were powered by the likes of Donata Katai, Tori Dowe and Vhenekai Chemba were in a no nonsense mood as they steam rolled past their competitors clinching the division, posting 1 852 points in the process with Matabeleland second, with a paltry 638 points.

Matabeleland men cameback to salvage some pride for the hosts as they won their category edging Harare after amassing 1 375 points to their 1 138.

Denilson Cypriano, Cory Werrett and Tichatonga Makaya were the peak of the swimmers for Matabeleland in a competition described as being tough but good preparation for the CANA Zone 4 championships set for Botswana in February and the South African Senior championships slated for April.

At the end of the competition, a Team Zimbabwe to the regional CANA Zone 4 championships was selected with high expectations they will be able to raise the country’s flag at the regional meet.
